Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about using Waymarker to track your meaningful journeys.

Getting Started

Waymarker helps you track and reflect on meaningful moments in your personal journeys. Document breakthroughs, challenges, and growth that can't be measured by numbers alone.

Tap the "+" button on the My Journeys screen. Enter a title, choose a color, and optionally add a description to start documenting your path.

A "journey" is the overall experience you're tracking (like "Learning Spanish" or "Marathon Training"). "Waypoints" are the individual moments or milestones within that journey.

Open a journey and tap the "+" button at the bottom of the screen. Add a description of the moment, adjust the sentiment slider to reflect how you felt, and set the impact level.

Managing Your Content

Yes! For journeys, tap the three-dot menu in the upper right corner of the journey details screen. For waypoints, tap directly on the waypoint to access edit and delete options.

When creating or editing a waypoint, toggle the "Mark as Milestone" option. Milestones are highlighted in your timeline and path visualizations.

Sentiment: Reflects your emotional experience (negative to positive)

Impact: Indicates the significance of that moment in your overall journey (1-3 lightning bolts)

Tap the filter icon in the header. For journeys, you can filter by status and sort by various criteria. For waypoints, you can filter by date, milestone status, and sentiment.

Account & Data

No. You can use Waymarker without creating an account, and your data will be stored locally on your device.

Creating an account allows you to:

  • Back up your data securely to the cloud
  • Sync your journeys across multiple devices
  • Ensure your data isn't lost if you change or lose your device

Go to Settings and tap "Sign In" to create an account using Google Sign-In or Apple Sign-In.

When you sign in after using the app locally, your existing journeys and waypoints will be automatically migrated to your new cloud account.

You can create and edit journeys even when offline. Changes will save locally and sync automatically when you're back online.

Go to Settings > Account > Delete Account. This will permanently remove all your data from our servers and your device.

Journey Visualizations

The Path view represents your journey as a visual subway-style map. Waypoints are connected chronologically, with milestone waypoints specially marked. Use the controls at the bottom to navigate through your journey.

The Stats view shows:

  • Overall journey summary (entries, sentiment, duration)
  • Sentiment distribution across your entries
  • Activity streaks and entry frequency
  • Common themes mentioned in your waypoints

Troubleshooting

Offline: You don't have an internet connection. Changes are saved locally.

Syncing: Your data is being synchronized with the cloud.

Sync Error: There was a problem synchronizing. Check your connection.

After creating 5 waypoints, Waymarker gently reminds you to create an account to protect your data. This is optional but recommended for data security.

Go to Settings > Appearance to switch between Light, Dark, or System mode (which follows your device settings).
